I have been working at Omni Hotels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount Rooms for employees and immediate family. This company has potential for greatness but am very doubtful.

    Cons

Be ready to work VERY, VERY long hours. No one told me I was expected to always work 50-60 hours per week, ALL the Time. Im working at least 10 hours and regularly 12 to 14 hours daily. I don't believe hospitality will be a long career for me. Redundant Processes make it very hard to work. Its very frustrating to always need to enter the same information 2-3 times because technology is not integrated. There is so much paperwork to complete and the hotel always pushes for every single back up. Accounting always say its for when they get audits but what they ask for is ridiculous. Bureaucratic at its highest. My managers are literally prevented from doing their jobs because of outdated or ghost SOP’s, plus they need to get many approvals, including going to his director who needs to go to his corporate director. Benefit costs and available vacation are different between Omni hotels. I have a family and my insurance costs are much higher here than my prior employer and I never have paid this much. A manager transferred from a different location and was upset because he has a family and was not told there was difference higher for medical cost for the same coverage, plus the vacation he is allowed to receive is lower. After comparing costs and reduced vacation, the 10% increase he got was basically reduced to about 5%. HR said they cannot help because increases are set by corporate and needs their approvals.

    Advice to Management

Employees talk to each other and corporate needs to know, that although we can't share our opinions doesn't mean we don't know how employees at other hotels get better benefits, vacation and treated. If you expect all Omni employees to follow the same policies and deliver the same service then employees provide equal benefit costs and vacation. Get rid of the paperwork and fix the technology. Let me focus on the guests and not the many pages of paperwork I have to send accounting.
