    I have been working at Onyx Pharmaceuticals as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    Co-workers are great people. Can develop life long professional relationships. Company offers many opportunities for development for FTE's.

    Cons

    Highly political. Views from seniority will usually outweigh contractors. Evaluation is primarily subjective and metrics are founded on variable units of performance. Compliance policies are not clearly defined and many overqualified associates are threatened with job status. High stress environment due to individual placement of blame rather than comprehensive approach to systemic failures. No obvious follow up to CAPA changes. Management unaware actual workload and disregard audit trails as primary sources of information.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Evaluation should be based on clearly defined metrics for all positions. Subjective criteria should be solicited from trainers and parties independent of immediate working team to prevent conflicts of interest from interfering with evaluation process. Metrics need to be validated and performed by multiple people to ensure quality control. Morale is low and environment creates hostility among individuals when mistakes are matched to single individual.
