    Pros

    Flexible schedules! You can find shifts to accommodate whatever is going on in your life, even getting paid for sleep overnights. Take pride in what you do because as a DSP you are on the front line in making positive impacts for the lives of vulnerable adults.

    Cons

    Benefits are nearly non-existent, especially for part time workers. I can't understand why caregivers are not given sick time or PTO. We shouldn't be coming to work sick, but some can't afford to take a day without pay and it can be hard to find subs. A lot will depend on the competency of your house supervisor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Make more surprise visits to your homes to ensure your consumers are receiving the attention they deserve. Treat your DSPs to better benefits and you may be able to attract and retain higher quality employees. Thank you for the employee parties you throw, jobs like these come with few rewards and praise every little bit helps morale.
