    Not the worst first job, but don't hesitate to move on quickly

    I have been working at Open Systems International full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    * Good benefits
    * Extravagant company parties
    * Some good Directors, Managers, and Supervisors
    * Plenty of intelligent and fun people in various departments
    * Job security

    Cons

    * Pay is subpar
    * Virtually no opportunities for advancement or significant pay increases for entry-level employees
    * High turnover
    * Many of the executives have oversized egos.
    * Not enough middle management
    * CEO, some VPs micromanage (examples: departments aren't given budgets, the CEO has to sign off on every purchase order whether it's $10 or $10,000; there is a VP that will get involved in the details of menial tasks assigned to entry-level employees)
    * The worst lobby music in the world. It sounds like it is produced by downtrodden minimum wage workers in cubicles who are given assignments like "Produce a smooth techno-reggae song w/ female vocals and no real instruments by the end of the day." If you care about music at all, it is instantly depressing to walk through the door every day.
    * Overall I'd give it a 2-star rating but I'm balancing things out because there seem to be a lot of new employee reviews lately, written before the negative aspects of the company fully come to light (I suspect HR is encouraging new employees to write reviews, but I can't prove that).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay industry standard rates and don't be stingy with pay increases.
    Don't be condescending to lower-level employees.
    Don't micromanage from the VP and CEO levels.
    Change the lobby music. Classical would be great but if you want to keep it edgier let someone who is knowledgeable and has good taste make a mix.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
