It depends on franchise owner. I only gave three stars because I LOVE the store and with good owners it could be great

I worked at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You get to work by yourself, so you can have a day of working your butt off, and then the next day sit on your phone the entire day. It doesn't really matter and I loved the aspect of creating my own time schedule. I started at 9 bucks an hour which is pretty good for how easy it is. Free frozen yogurt. Lots of freedom. No manager. Only me and three other employees who I rarely saw. It really gives you a sense of ownership over the store.

    Cons

After switching franchise owners I got a dollar pay cut to 8 bucks an hour + way more work. I was never paid on time, they would edit the hours I was clocked in for when they thought I 'didn't get enough done during those hours' so essentially if I had an easy day I didn't get paid for it. As great as being alone is, it would be nice for maybe weekend nights to have two people working together. It can be so difficult having 20 people in the store and going between getting them samples, checking them out at the register and keeping the place clean. The paycut was really crazy for the amount of work I did. I was by myself all day and made yogurt, cut fruit, cleaned, waited on customers, ordered all new items we needed, dealt with all the marketing stuff, and set up fundraisers, I ran social media, if anything broke down in the store I had the numbers of the air conditioning guy, toilet guy, cash register guy, and I scheduled appointments for them to come fix stuff, I received all the big shipments and organized and kept inventory of all of it on my own. I was practically a general manager we ALL were and I hate that there were days I'd not get paid at all when putting my whole heart into keeping the place up and running.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate that your employees are doing all of your work. Don't take the fact that the business is losing money out on employees by simply deciding not to pay them. Do NOT buy a franchise if you aren't ready to sacrifice in the beginning. Absolutely ridiculous how I was treated here.
