Former Employee - Managing Consultant  in  London, England (UK)
Former Employee - Managing Consultant in London, England (UK)

I worked at PA Consulting full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Genuinely good, talented and interesting people to work with. Supportive colleagues, despite a system for seniors that does not reward collaboration.

    Really strong brand in Scandanavia!

    Cons

Many partners have almost zero content and rely heavily on thje MC's working for them. Truly appalling behavious by some, displayed consistently and ignored by top of the shop.

Very UK-centric. US and Gulf are examples where the transplanted model from London doesnt really work. Most of the team that went to the Gulf have come back or left in despair.

Weak brand and still recovering from over-reliance on Govt work.

The claimed low basic, high bonus system just doesnt work. Overall it's poor pay - I moved to a client for a 25% rise and much less hassle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some of the partners just need to be moved-on/out.

Take more risks, give more responsibility/autonomy to teams.
