I worked at PETA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It was easy and pretty straight-forward trying to get a job there. Since there’s such a high turnover, they always need workers. I liked the friendships I developed over 2 years and the intense about of work experienced I gained in that short time.

    Cons

Ridiculously high turnover rate and zero job security. Keeping up with the massively high volume of work is impossible unless you are working around the clock with hardly any time to catch your breath, much less sleep. Any slip up will result in a harsh reprimand, and possibly the loss of your job. This varies by department of course. Campaigns seems to be the worst.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in massive addition to staff or a reduction in programming. There is far too much work to go around. I spent 2 years as a staffer with PETA, a year as an intern before that, and my entire youth as an activist for PETA before that. I dedicated my entire life to PETA and I felt no choice but to leave because I just simply couldn't handle the stress and fear of being fired every day. My job performance was considered "good", but that wasn't enough to remove that fear after years of seeing so many people get fired without notice.
