Great place to learn and get experience, not a career oriented company

I have been working at PHFE full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits package is comprehensive Medical + Dental + Vision paid for by employer and 403b employer contribution is more generous than any other company I've worked for. But the benefits are lackluster once you've been working here more than a year. It's a fast paced environment where you can learn and get solid experience that will get you a great job somewhere else.

    Cons

Although you can learn a lot in your job there are no promotions or opportunities to rise up the career ladder within the company. The position you were hired for will be the only position you will have for as long as you stay here unless someone quits or gets fired. Then you could apply for their job. It's just the way the company is structured to have the least amount of people/positions possible. Raises are small <$1 every other year maybe less often. There is a lot of turn over and a lot of people are seeking other job opportunities where they can thrive and be equally compensated for their hard work. Most new/young employees at the company are very eager and hard working but tend to leave after the 2 year mark for better paying jobs and a fair workload. The 60+ hr work weeks plus weekends have been putting a strain on employees (and their families) for the past year. Working at PHFE is having the responsibilities and workload of two jobs but only getting paid for one job. So, learn as much as you can before your soul/optimism/self worth is crushed and move on to greener pastures. Like I said, it's a great place to get experience but use it to get a better job at another company.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the current mood and ambiance in the office. The employees are not ok and probably feel like they are drowning in work and unhappiness. It's becoming a morose place to work at and the misery is spreading like wild fire. The clients are sensing/being subjected to some of that misery which will affect customer service. Allow supervisors to promote employees. Give raises that don't add up to a couple of cents since it sends out the message that employees are only worth a couple of pennies.
