I have been working at Pacific Dental Services full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I have worked in private practices as well as other DSO's and I am proud to say that PDS is the best! There isn't another model that I am aware of that allows Associate Doctors the opportunity for mentorship, free CE's, competitive compensation and growth into ownership if they so choose. Non-clinical roles are also provided incredible opportunities if they are willing to work hard and embrace the patient-centric culture that PDS and the Owner Doctors have established. We are very fortunate to have the information and technology available, through the partnerships of dentists and PDS, to serve our patients with the dentistry they want and need. There have been recent changes locally to the regional team allowing more individualized administrative support to each office which was something that was lacking in the past. Yes, the Owner Doctors do often guide new associates to the benefits of Cerec. Yes, managers at all levels do drive profitability using data and reports available to us and this is to provide the support needed to help our clinicians and non-clinical team members achieve their career goals. I don't know of a business out there, healthcare industry or not, that can function without certain profitability expectations. To the naysayers out there: If you were a business owner (non-clinical) or a dentist owning an office that wasn't supported by PDS, how could you expect to pay your rent, lab, people, health insurance, CE courses, malpractice, legal, accounting, marketing, software and computer costs without a certain level of productivity?
Added benefits include: WeServe volunteer opportunities, 401k, medical/dental/vision insurance, financial incentives aligned with patient satisfaction and retention, paid vacations for most team members, annual appreciation event-all expenses paid.

    Cons

The hours can be long at times, especially for management, so you have to be willing to go above and beyond to make sure that patients, team members, clinicians and Owner Doctors are taken care of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is an opportunity to enhance our training programs as we continue to grow and the caliber of talent joining the organization continues to improve.
