I have been working at Panera Bread full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This company is willing to train you for positions if you show a talent and are willing to do the time. There are opportunities even at the corporate office for café workers, especially if you speak to the right people.

    Cons

Typical fast food enviornment. Life/work balance is nonexistent. Low paid employees are constantly coming and going, hard to keep staffing where it should be. The amount of work for associates doesn't match their pay, keeping their spirits up can feel impossible at times. Higher ups don't approve of incentive programs for staff. Prepare to either "network" or work your tail off for promotions. Count on working every single weekend unless you're a GM. Don't let the management title fool you, this is a working manager job. You'll have to fight for office time, even when it's in your own time. You're still held responsible for the administrative duties, even though you won't be getting any administrative time.

    Advice to Management

Paying associates more initially will bring more people in, giving them higher raises for learning new areas will keep them. It costs as much to keep training people so why not do it right, also we would lose less management. Have more shift supervisors in each café to run shifts and keep your higher managers happy. New management division of work, possibly the GM being in charge of whole cafe, 1 AM in charge of all administrative duties, except truck receiving. Restaurants have incentive programs to accomplish tasks while appeasing staff.
