I have been working at Parsons Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

The company is employee-owned and contributes between 12% and 15% of your salary to your retirement every year--however it is in the form of Parsons stock which you can't sell or cash out of till you are about 60. Often projects are interesting / one of a kind. Have a strong safety culture.

Parsons is a project-oriented company run by engineers. HR is about average for an engineer-run company (in other words--HR policy & help sucks). Almost no advancement potential. You are hired for a particular role on a particular project so they need to keep you in it. That combined with the almost impossible task of moving to another project makes promotion extremely rare. I have seen two promotions among over 100 co-workers in 5 years. When your project is over, its very likely you will be out of a job--at any level of responsibility. T here have been attempts to make transfers between projects easier--but it doesn't work more often than not. Usually you can find a job--but you have to be willing to move out of state or around the world. Its easier to jump to another company--but that's about par for this industry.

    Advice to Management

Sr. Management in Pasadena seems clueless. We keep announcing major strategic goals that die in about 6 months. We just decided a year ago to go more into oil and gas, and into countries that produce commodities--and lo and behold the oil and gas & commodity markets enter a prolonged downturn. This is just the latest example of management pursuing trends and being caught behind the curve. I suggest the board of directors look outside the company for someone who can actually lead. Harrington is another dud.
