    I have been working at Paschall Truck Lines

    Pros

    PTL will hire any driver that fills out an app. The only way you will not get hired is if you fail the on site drug test or you have a really, really, really bad driving record. P2 trainees are put into new, automatic Freightliners. Read on to find out what a P2 trainee is.

    Cons

    When you start at PTL they call you a P1 trainee. During this phase you get into a truck w/a trainer and you must drive 5000 miles @ .17 cpm. Most of the trainers will be in the sleeper birth and tell you not to kill you both before they go lay down. No big deal, 10-14 days out. Then you go on to become a P2 trainee. They put two P2 trainees in a truck and send you out until the two of you drive 40,000 dispatched miles @ .17cpm apiece. You are out 3-4 months, its very hard. To give you an idea of how hard it is, maybe, maybe 5 out of 100 applicants will upgrade from a P2 trainee to a company driver.
    Now you are the 5% that made it!!! You have your own truck!!! Then you soon realize that you went trough hell for little of nothing. I could go on and regurgitate the stuff you have read about bad trucking companies but won't bore wit that. It's the same here at PTL.
    Bottom line and fact about PTL: the priority, dispatched miles, go to the P2 trainees. The company drivers, trainers and O/O get the miles that are left over. They could care less about you. The P2 trainees use to only have to complete 30,000 miles until the big wigs realized they are getting two for the price of one. For you new guys that means they are paying a truck .34cpm(.17 apiece) with two P2 trainees running it 24/7 while a new company driver is begging for miles @ .33 cpm and can only drI've 11 hours a day. Understand? Getting the picture yet?

    If you are a new driver with no criminal history and have a clean, good driving record, for God's sake do not start your career at PTL!!! For those of you on the opposite end of this spectrum, PTL is the place for you.

    Medical/Dental no vision $5000.00 deductible
    No evaluations for pay raise
    Departments pass the buck until you are put into contact with a college student

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    What can I say, you have a excellent business plan with the P2s. It makes a lot of money for the company and increases your ESOP portfolios because you know only 5% of the P2s will make it to become a company driver and of those 5% maybe .05% of them will stay with the company long enough to take advantage of the ESOP.
