    Pros

Great people, good benefits, good core mission, flexible work-from-home

    Cons

K12 division is a swirling mess due to constant reorgs. The most recent re-orgs (during last 18 months) have been top-down-driven with little consideration for how business works operationally at mid- and lower-levels. Revenue has suffered, talented people have left in droves. Since many product lines have lost (or laid off) people, the phrase "not my job..." is heard regularly as nobody is left who has historic knowledge of products, processes, or past promises made to customers. Way more time is spent fighting internally in the new matrixed organization than is spent solving problems for customers or developing new products.

Due to the "flattening" of the organization, executives at the VP and above level have been demoted a rank (VPs were made Directors, SVPs were made VPs) which is also leading to an exodus of leadership. Pearson used to be a place where I was proud to work. No more. I am looking outside for possibilities at smaller companies where the organization does not eat its own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

"One Pearson" is a nice motto theoretically, but may not work operationally because aircraft carriers are hard to turn. John Fallon, your good intentions are getting lost in the botched handling of the most recent reorganizations. Get real and listen to the folks in the trenches.
