I have been working at Penn National Gaming part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Decent pay, nice atmosphere, fun. Working here is a good start for anything you may want to do. There is always room to move within the company.

    Cons

Penn National is lower on the food chain when it comes to gaming. Working here has shown that the company cares more about monopolizing the industry with their own brand, that cutting corners on benefits and over all infrastructure damages them whether they see it or not . The company has an outdated computer system that they pretty much admit they will NEVER update, the computer gaming system is that of the dinosaur age and so many "band-aid" spin off programs are developed cheaply to fix other problems, and become just a big discombobulated mess to actually use (Try doing a single transaction or function and having to use 3-4 other programs just to do it). They ONLY recently decided to link all their properties together so players can travel to other properties with the same player status and points, but It seems like they only did it to keep up to par with the exclusion programs that are mandatory for the business to operate. The Joliet property I worked at have a really hard time keeping up with Harrahs that's just 10 minuets away that in order to compete, Penn has to offer near the same or better accommodations than Harrahs does, and it seems that by doing this, they try to make up for this "loss" by cutting corners on other things that affect playing guests. There seems to be no innovation towards standing out from Caesars Properties. It would be nice to see Penn Move to the top but the ethics don't seem to be "in the cards" for that to happen. They can build and buy as many properties they want, but if the leading Casinos under Caesars is thriving better, then there will be no moving to the top especially not getting up to date on a lot of things Penn will be left in the dark with their outdated Bally's system.
