    I worked at Phoenix Contact full-time for more than 10 years


    Good basic products with reasonable quality. Lot's of traveling and late dinners with management. Minimum 2-4 international trips per year to German HQ. International sales and Marketing manage subsidiary from HQ. Many managers and meetings to review your work. Heavy budgeting process with direct HQ involvement. Politics are heavy and everyone is questioning your work. Heavily controlled by auditors from Canada and Germany. Constantly being audited therefore managers and employees are controlled on everything.


    Managers could be more qualified. Significant favoritism and excessive work hours. Worked 40 to 100 hours per week regularly. HR department was weak and unfair. Totally controlled by General Manager to a micro level. Little room for creativity and Automation System development. Limited technical group of employees. They are great at component sales but under perform with automation systems. Here the product is limited and the software is unstable. To much focus on marketing and not the customer experience. Much time is invested into marketing the company a "great place to work". Senior managers could be more transparent. Have not been growing for years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Lead the company from Canada. Be honest and transparent. Support a better work life balance. Incentives and pay are low for high performers. Stop changing the incentive packages to support the company during an agreement. Be more credible and fair with your decisions. Do not talk behind employees back when they are not present. Hire better qualified people and reward your real hard workers.
