The Forest Gump of Software - Pivotal is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you are going to get.

I have been working at Pivotal

    Good pay
    Good benefits (from EMC)
    Healthy financial backing
    Good long term vision
    Lots of smart people
Can leverage the EMC Federation (EMC, VMWare)

    Vision changes every 3 months
Only the top 5-10% of innovative companies and industries buy into the vision
High turnover, due to all the cons listed here
No more focus on big data analytics which is the reason many people came here
Cloud Foundry is a great vision - in a couple of years
If you make your living selling technology, Pivotal can be too innovative for your customers, meaning you won't make any money unless you have early adopters as customers
    No communication from management
You build a strategy with your customers and have to shift gears based on corporate whims
Have to use alot of EMC internal systems which are a PITA
    Lots of backstabbing
    Unrealistic expectations
    Incompetent middle management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Have realistic goals for company
Set a vision and stick with it for more than 3 months
Set people up for success, not failure
Take care of people, high attrition will not support rapid growh

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Approves of CEO
