Current Employee - Intermediate Manager in Quincy, CA

I have been working at Plumas District Hospital full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Wonderful sierra foothill surroundings. hiking, kayaking, quiet and safe town. not too much snow in the winter season. friendly neighbors. close drive to lake tahoe and reno.

    Cons

Inadequate leadership. very low morale among tenured employees. financially mismanaged. medical benefits are average at best. The hospital board is biased due to the presence of an E. R. physician on the board. No employees should ever sit on the board. The most "short-sighted" group of managers I have ever imagined much less worked with!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

"management" at PDH is a lynch mob!! True management does not manage in a retroactive manner through constant damage control. True management empowers their employees, rewards those who work hard and deals appropriately with those who potentially risk patients, employees and themselves. Hopefully the CEO will step down soon and his replacement will be a more compassionate individual who can comprehend the complexity of a small town hospital as opposed to a "big hospital" administrator that is way past retirement and incapable of truly managing this facility. This facility does not need an "executioner" style of politics dolled out from a CEO that is only trying to hold onto his job as long as possible by playing politics with others livelihoods. All the life-coaches in the world can not help the moral here until management is asked to leave or be dispatched.
