I have been working at Polyvore full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Amazing attitude towards treating employees well & actually using meritocracy.
I haven't been here long (less than a year), but in that time I have seen people that worked the hardest be recognized publicly as well as financially (promotion & raise).
The CEO and the senior leaders are down-to-earth here. They have set some aggressive goals for the year, but they aren't expecting people to work weekends and do a "death march".

I used to work for a larger company, and each interaction with HR I felt like they were treating me as a liability. Here, HR actively reaches out, engages with all employees, and is continually striving to improve itself.

I am jaded from years of working in the valley, and I continually keep an eye out for someone here who is playing the political game (just trying to get ahead), and I have been completely unsuccessful so far in seeing that, which is phenomenal!

Overall - I am excited to come to work, the people are collaborative and working towards the same goal, and the management team focuses on ground-up ideation & collaboration instead of top-down management practices.

    Cons

Some of the people who have been here for a longer time are more resistant to change (they take more convincing).
Due to the fact that they have a strong business model, it is sometimes difficult to move fast enough to take advantage of a changing technological landscape. They are improving in this area, but they have some more room to go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue developing your employees, it will pay off in dividends.
Don't be afraid to move & fail fast on new ideas, as long as the people involved are prepped and understand that they may be on a 2 month mission-to-failure, they will be in it together :-)
