Former Employee - Maintenance Worker  in  Pewaukee, WI
Former Employee - Maintenance Worker in Pewaukee, WI

I worked at Presbyterian Homes and Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The residence are great, I enjoyed resolving or fixing any problems that they had on any given day. Enjoyed keeping and providing them the best service possible given the circumstances. Independent living, assisted living and dementia ward.

    Cons

Front office, never available if you had any issues to discuss concerning equipment. Upper management stance ? repair existing equipment that was either not repairable or obsolete. Snow blowers, vacuum cleaners, and even personnel ladders. Basically upper management didn't fund the maintenance department and refused to increase the submitted budget. Budget was based on number of green slips completed, so preventative maintenance suffered. Not that the employees of the maintenance department and supervisor didn't do everything possible to maintain the facility. Upper management would not listen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out from behind your desks. Get in touch and tour your maintenance departments. Work a week in them. Try to understand it's daily workings. Another words try to understand it from their perspective. In the long run you will be doing a service in keeping down future facility costs and its residence's rent.
