    I have been working at Progressive Insurance full-time (More than 10 years)


    Good company culture that will challenge you with work that makes a difference to the bottom line. Smart and passionate people exist at many levels throughout the company. Compensation package is good relative to others in the field of IT. Gainshare program is a differentiator that is emphasized but not guaranteed yet it pays consistently due to its alignment with company performance. Business vision is understandable and leveraged to gain consensus at all levels strategically.


    Senior management within IT is out of touch and given that they are in the glass house will protect that at all costs. Advancement programs are sold/marketed when feedback is provided that limited advancement opportunities exist. The response to promote an advancement path that give you all the responsibility of an equity level position, with no title and no equity is insulting. This is implemented by those in the glass house because they themselves struggle to effectively identify those that CAN EXECUTE effectively.

    Advice to Management

    Senior management within our Business Units are fantastic. Learn from them on how to effectively identify those who are passionate and can execute vs. promote those that can sell/market themselves but lack vision and/or the ability to execute. We do not need an advancement program. We need vision, leadership and the ability for IT Senior Managers to effectively manage IT talent to meet the business needs of the Destination ERA. You are far too disconnected from reality to realize this, so get involved which does not translate into asking people to be someone they are not. Too many people being promoted are people who have a gift to tell you what you want to hear and we need people that challenge and think out of the box.
