I worked at Providence Journal full-time (More than 10 years)

It's exciting working at a newspaper. Something is always happening. You feel like you are part of an important part of our country's culture.

In the past, when the company was owned by a private family and later by the Belo Corp., it was an excellent place to work with good salaries and decent benefits. However, in 2014 it was purchased by GateHouse Media, and they got rid of many people. GateHouse outsourced many jobs. They want people to work for half the previous pay. Morale went way down and stress went way up.
