I worked at Prudential (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits and you get trained. There is a atmosphere of professionalism and respect. There is little or no pressure if you are a financial professional associate because your salary depends on you. There are goals you need to meet. They are easy to achieve if you have a good network of potential clients, but if you do not know a lot of people, or if the people you know do not turn into clients, you might find it difficult to meet your goals. It is really up to you.

    Cons

Commission pay is really tough for some people. When you leave, the company holds money they owe you for 14 weeks. You will be part of Prudential's business plan: they will encourage you to buy marketing material from them, and you will have to pay for desk space at some point in your career, usually 2 years.

    Advice to Management

The old marketing ways, like the 200 phone calls a week, do not work as well as in the not so far past, but outdated old timers will swear that is how you build your practice. Mail and cold calling is really inefficient, but your trainer will swear there is a magic number for you to make a 100k dollars. Figure out a way to make texting with clients allowed, it is how many, many people communicate these days. There is a thing call the internet, let agents explore ways to get clients more freely. Your agent's web pages are not boring, they redefine boring, and bring it to a new level. There are many things that can be done with one click of the mouse, like scrubbing, and it should not be a tedious manual task. Even when you submit a list, it then takes for you to print and get approved in a very lethargic process. Your website is busier than craigslist, but way less intuitive to navigate (too many menus). Compliance assumes you are always trying to do something illegal, (no benefit of the doubt) and sometimes agents find out it is better not to mention anything to them and take their chances, I have seen it and that should really scare Prudential. In general, Prudential is more like a dinosaur and old fashion. I am omitting the good things in this message.
