I worked at Purdue Research Foundation (More than a year)
The people are generally really friendly and it's easy to talk to almost anyone there. Many coworkers are willing to do their best to help out where needed.
Too political in regards to internal promotions and new job opportunities. If you aren't favored by management, chances are you will be overlooked/under-appreciated. Pay is also low due to Purdue's salary restrictions. Finally, many employees get away without doing their part of the job requirements, leaving more motivated employees to pick up the slack.
Advice to Management
Consider each candidate for an internal promotional opportunity fairly. Many overqualified individuals are stuck in their positions due to favoritism based on personal relationships. Also, for many individuals, focus more on one's work experience, tenured time with the organization and dedication to Purdue Research Foundation when gauging qualifications/promotions over an academic degree.
