Former Employee - Senior Consultant in Mumbai (India)

I worked at PwC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Opportunities to work with different clients; some really intelligent people
    Possible international exposure
Good brand name in the market

    Cons

Heavily perception dependent company; your people manager can screw you over if something goes wrong between you and him; good feedback from clients does not count.

India Technology consulting (where I worked) had a huge bias for Bengali people.. many managers in Delhi, Mumbai, bangalore are Bengalis sent from Kolkata for promotion; instead of hiring locally available talent. These people do not know the local market and usually have high egos (expect non-bengali juniors to call them DA and DI e.g. Pradip da, Dipankar Da, Sanjukta Di etc)

Secondment opportunities are frequently distributed in Kolkata as against any location (Kolkata being based in Eastern India has minimal industrial and commercial activity as compared to say Delhi or Mumbai or Bangalore - but maximum recruitment still happens there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remove the person dependency and implement robust processes which cannot be compromised. Also, Partners (some) should stop behaving like gods and connect more with their teams.
