I worked at Pyramid Hotel Group part-time
The focus on guests at my property was where the managers spent a lot of their time, which is the most rewarding part of this otherwise unrewarding job. The pay is pretty damn good for a job that requires little in terms of skills.
Work is exhausting, putting in a 40 hour week as a bellman, where you might walk/run 10+ miles in a day, can make it really hard to do anything productive beyond work on your day off.
Advice to Management
Middle managers are constantly looking over your shoulder to see if you are screwing anything up. Most of the people working at the entry level aren't doing jobs complicated enough to really screw up....
