I worked at Quick Weight Loss full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - The pay can be quite nice, if you have either the pushiness or the compassion to convince the clients to trust you. - Helping people on a plan that genuinely does work. - SOME wonderful coworkers.

    Cons

    - Hours are much longer than initially explained, I would spend upwards of 11-12 hours at work daily for a usual average of 50 hours a week. - Days off are never guaranteed, and you have to work 4 1/2 days per week. - High employee turnover: you either stay for years, or get out withing 6 months. - Self-righteous and conceited upper level employees. If you don't agree with them, expect to hear about it. - Little-to-no employee recognition or motivation. - You lose extra bonuses if: You are a minute late. You call out, even if sick or have a car problem. Your customer gets a refund to bring you below quota. - You have to pay for your required lab-coat, name-tag, and scrubs. - Many managers preferred to not get involved with client complaints. Either you deal with it or finally get a supervisor to help. - Some employees cherry-pick the customers they see to get more commission. this i in spite of a company rule to take turns, round-robin. - No computers for record keeping, everything is carbon-copy triplicate. (But we did have a fax machine & credit card reader, YAY!) - Occasionally the paychecks didn't quite add-up. - Towards the end of my run, changes were made to restrict amounts of commission earned. - Fear of constantly being transferred to various centers, which could be many miles away, without recourse to not go. - They won't even let you eat "hot foods" in the center, and have no microwaves. Either cold foods, or you have to go out and spend money for something warm. - I have seen slightly overweight counselors lose bonuses for not losing weight weekly, while some upper-level individuals did not even remotely follow these guidelines even when obese. - The employees have to come in earlier than posted schedules to vacuum, wipe glass & counters, and scrub bathroom and toilet daily (Despite one center mysteriously having a cleaning crew). - Program changes are made as often as weekly, and you must memorize all changes verbatim.

    Advice to Management

    - Appreciate your employees, and make them ALL feel like part of the family, not just the heavy-hitters. - Work on retaining enough employees to allow a more rigid schedule formation (instead of just wanting to put as little income out as possible). - Don't threaten your employees with taking their money daily. Work with them and help them actually WANT to strive to do better!
