I worked at Raytheon full-time (More than 8 years)

-Very smart technical people, lots of opportunity to learn. Tuition reimbursement for relevant university courses, some fellowships available, internal training courses available in many subjects -Job mobility if you're willing to take initiative. Most managers are willing to work with you to make sure you are working on something you enjoy -Mod time is great, makes it easy to take a day off without using PTO and just make up the hours. -Flexible schedules, needs to be approved by your manager but I never had any issue with this. I was in school during much of my employment here. -Company takes ethics issues seriously. There are still problems but there are plenty of avenues to resolve issues and anonymously report problems - use the ethics hotline if you need to!

-Pay is not competitive compared with tech companies, especially in higher cost of living areas (LA) -Some older established projects feel very behind the times. You could end up working with 30 year old technology which for me is not very exciting. Limited opportunities for cutting-edge development, some departments are better than others in this respect

    Advice to Management

Make compensation more competitive or Raytheon will continue losing top talent to tech companies with better salary packages. This will become more important as many senior level people retire.
