I have been working at Reading Health System

    Pros

Wonderful co-workers who will work foolishly without compensation for missed lunches in order to provide the best patient care possible, even at theit own expense at an institution that had a net profit of over 65 million FY08.

    Cons

Inability to get vacation approved due to short staffing, pay scale is 15 to 30% lower than surrounding area, "self-governance" comittees supervised and directed by management, CAP program based upon your willingness to attend meetings on an unpaid basis, executive focus on management of assets versus leadership skills, CEO who is purely an accountant or "bean counter" who is completely concerned with directing funds to capital expenses while displaying little interest in employee satisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As one of the most profitable not for profit healthcare institutions in PA, employee incomes should reflect a better appreciation of that. Scott wolfe should look to his predecessor for guidance in both honesty with and respect of the staff who make that possible. Competency should be valued more than blind loyalty to management.
