I have been working at Retroscreen Virology full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I have learnt a lot in a short space of time.
There are some terrific people working here.
The finance director is a good man with the respect of many, he must often wonder how he has ended up in a circus such as this.

    Cons

The ideas and vision is poorly planned and managed by the senior management team, the CEO and her 'Vice Presidents' are dreamers who want nothing more than a bunch of 'yes' men around them.

all Other senior 'Execs' have ego issues and each acts like a CEO as soon as they are behind closed doors. Highly confidential information is being shared incorrectly.

Well respected individuals have come on board over the last 6 months only for those individuals to be forced out as soon as they disagree with the CEO. Her relationship with another member of the Exec board is the deep rooted cause of the unrest and divided approach seen across the business. There are other 'relationships' at senior level that are a huge conflict of interest. Consultants and 'interim' directors are everywhere and these people are paid £1000's a week and know and contribute nothing.

Restructures are rife and the company vision changes faster than the weather. The Senior Management are constantly looking to 'one up' each other. No one works together. Pay and benefits are extremely average and communication is the worst i have experienced. HR are incompetent and do nothing to support staff who have a grievance.

Staff retention is non-existent. After a recent 'consolidation' of staff numbers, HR were delighted that only a few people had lost their jobs due to this restructure (the 3rd in as many years). However, the consolidation was handled so poorly that dozens and dozens of people have resigned in recent months. More and more people are looking to leave everyday.

These reviews on glass door are dismissed as 'nothing' by certain senior people - WRONG!!! THEY MEAN EVERYTHING!!!

Staff have recently been asked to write 'positive' glass door reviews. Thankfully, people are using this forum to express whats really happening.

It will be a miracle if the regulatory groups don't shut them down.

The reputation the company holds with its clients is appalling.

There is no culture to speak of and they do not look after their staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave? Seriously, the consultants in 'interim' jobs - ask yourselves, why are you here? are you helping the situation? The answer is a simple, you are making it worse. This 'old pals and wives' act is getting beyond a joke now. You are messing with people's livelihoods here. GO NOW.

Exec team - stop bickering, work together, start delivering on vision, reward the people who have put you where you are.

CEO - stop, look and listen hard for once. The roadshows and presentations that massage your ego and that of your boyfriend are not bringing people along with you on your journey to the vision you have set. People do not trust you.

Be honest and your staff will respect a lot more.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
