I have been working at Rice University full-time (More than 3 years)

The professors are knowledgeable, generally nice and easy to approach. The research topics are fun and interesting. The location is good to find a job in chemical engineering and the campus is awesome.

Some of the apparatus are old fashioned. Had to repair and deal with broken equipment oftentimes. There are not enough technicians so that it always take longer to finish experiments compared to the lab in industry.

    Advice to Management

Need to understand the lab in academia. Even it is less fancy than the labs in industry, you get the chance to research on whatever is interesting to you. It is not bad to know how to fix a pump, a computer, a pipeline and staff.
