Current Employee - Administrative Assistant in Bellevue, WA

I have been working at Ricoh full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Really great people all around they make a difference
Current local leadership is a great leader
Lots of learning opportunity through internal online "university" some are transferable and they have a good external college program
Making a change to focus on technology to keep up the times so this company will be around for a long time.
    Good time off options
    Free parking

    Cons

Most decisions about employees are driven by headquarters. They do not value admin so as an admin you are overwhelmed a good part of the time and do expect competitive pay
Technology company is their focus, but our own technology is only ok and we use Lotus Notes for email and it's awful.
No work from home or flex time options. I know admin need to be there, but a work from home day once a week would prove to be highly productive since you can work without the constant interruption.Sales reps of course have this due to nature of the job.
Not much advancement opportunity unless you are willing to relocate or work near one of the headquarters in AZ or PA.
Processes are broken or slow for end users

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More testing of process changes with the actual end users. Most changes make our jobs harder even though there may be relief on back end. Also please get rid of Lotus Notes. It's embarrassing and does not make us look like a forward thinking company and it is just a poor tool. Offer flex time. It would cost you almost nothing, but make others work life balance improve greatly, especially with this areas traffic issues. Work on competitive pay for non sales positions. Help us help you. We can help free up your time if you will let us. It will only improve productivity all around.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Positive Outlook
