    I worked at Rite Aid

The crews I worked with were fun and for the most part had a good work ethic. I enjoyed working in my store.

Responsibility, loyalty and initiative are not at all valued at this company. The company does not even trust their managers to control such things as heating or air conditioning. The store lights are now out of sync and on to almost midnight and the STORE MANAGER cannot do anything about it. Hours are cut and as a result people lose benefits through no fault of their own. When the minimum wage goes up, only those making less than the new wage are affected... we used to joke that if we worked there long enough we'd all be making minimum wage! There is NO merit pay for the associates - no way to get around the "top of the pay scale " barrier. No chance for advancement unless you are willing to relocate...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire the BEST people as managers - people with leadership, integrity and common sense. Trust them. Expect that everyone is honest and hard working until proven otherwise. Institute merit raises for your best associates - they are the FACE of your stores to the buying public. Be seriously open to suggestions from the people on the ground. Realize that with stores throughout the country that there are cultural differences and the one size fits all store concept is not viable.
