I worked at Ross Stores part-time (more than a year)

The best part of working at Ross was the great coworkers you meet who understand the struggles of working in a less than enjoyable environment. You really learn a lot working in such a fast paced and large store. The only other plus is the "double discount days" that happen every 4 months where your discount is doubled from 20 to 40%.

The biggest con would be their expectations. Ross stores expect the work of two people done by one person and pump you full of constant training, new information and criticism all of the time. The management team is often overwhelmed and so they take their associates for granted until they leave and replace them with someone new. When the store is busy, be prepared to handle the high levels of stress and work fast. They will often have you doing assignments that do not pertain to your designated job. All of this for minimum wage is not enough. As a part of the loss prevention team they load on a ridiculous amount of expectations and handbooks and training. They expect too much from you just because you are being paid a dollar more than everyone else. Front end supervisors still make minimum wage. Depending on how well you work you will get more hours. The annual raise is a max of 0.20 and thats if youre a perfect employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to truly appreciate their employees and offer more compensation. This is a Fortune 250 company and they can afford to provide more for their employees.
