I have been working at Rovi full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits, especially the FTO plan. Fairly flexible work hours. Hardworking teams and people at the individual contributor level.

    Cons

A fairly negative place overall. There is very little communication between teams, and it is very challenging to feel pride in your work when you see and hear so little of the results or feedback. I work in a fairly inward-facing part of the business, and very rarely hear client feedback or see the actual products in action.

There is very little room for advancement, and no clear career-path or plan. The high turnover makes it difficult to create a strong network, and many promotions and hires seem arbitrary and confusing. Managers tend to work their team for their personal benefit and represent themselves, rather than their business unit or group. It can be very difficult to get clear direction, and misinformation is often communicated from managers to teams. This creates waste and disorganization, and also saps motivation.

On a more subjective note, people around the office do not seem happy, and there is very littler camaraderie. My coworkers are very hard-working and care about the services and products, but the lack of clear company culture makes the personal environment rather cold.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create career paths and foster talent within the organization. Constant changes and restructuring has made employees lost faith, but by promoting and grooming talent from within the ranks, a home-grown "Rovi culture" can thrive.
