I have been working at Rug Doctor full-time (More than 10 years)
The open road is addictive. This is the only part of the job that is a plus. Territory is large. Able to make some decisions on my own. Building relationships with the numerous accounts is good. They all seemed to like me and looked forward to my visits. Job by itself is easy, nothing really taxing or problematic.
The job has become a micro management nightmare. They are always scrutinizing everything you do, including where you place your product in your van. They sell there machines everywhere and then sit back and complain about why rental sales are dropping and which ASR is to blame. If you're reading this for the first time and contemplating whether to work for Rug Doctor....RUN! This company has NO sense of direction. The compensation is a joke. I haven't got a raise in years! The only way to make more money is to get involved in their little sales games that are rigged to lose. To sum it all up, this is a company consuming it self from within. It will only end up imploding eventually.
Advice to Management
Leave the drivers alone. Allow them to make decisions about their routes and the best way to get them serviced. And quit micro managing them. It only destroys any sense of loyalty the workers will have and destroys the product brand loyalties.
