    Former Employee - External Organizer
    Former Employee - External Organizer

I worked at SEIU full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great introduction to the labor movement, I worked as an External Organizer which means that they will send you where ever they need help cleaning up issues or places that need more attention. I worked with this company for 2 years and was away from home and in hotels 100% of the time. The starting pay wasn't great but if you work hard and get promoted quickly then you will make a lot more and have great benefits.

    Cons

There is no work-life balance, only consider working here if you are ready to make work your main priority, there were a lot of campaigns that mandated 14+ hour work days for long periods of time as well as travel to places 3 or more hours away from home.
Everything is based on numbers, if you don't meet goals it will be used against you. Stressful place to work and would only recommend working here if you are right out of college and have no kids or relationship at home.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees more like people instead of numbers! Provide more training so that employees dont feel lost in the field and fully understand their assignments!
