Good work environment in Arlington with good people that are fun to work with.

It is assembly-line journalism. The Arlington office is laid back and sort of low energy. Enthusiasm and good ideas are not rewarded at SNL, so everyone is just going through the motions with their heads down.
You get assigned a story in the system and rewrite it. The more rewrites you do and the faster you do them, the more you get in bonuses (like a dog getting treats for obeying its master). Your industry and journalism experience has little value here because you don't have much opportunity to use it. In fact, if you stray from the assembly-line re-writes and try to do enterprise articles, you run the risk of being charged with an error, which will severely dock your bonus. Everything you do -- number of re-writes, words in them, supposed errors (you can be charged with an error even if it is not one under the establish criteria) are tracked by management.
There is only middle management in Arlington that reports to senior management elsewhere. No chance of becoming senior management in Arlington, so working there is just a job, not a career. The senior managers that Arlington reports to are not qualified to be senior managers. They were promoted for their adherence to the company philosophy of (PAPOP) procedures are priority over people.
