EMS Chief at STVHS made me leave due to her lack of professionalism and her incompetence.

I have been working at STVHCS

Loved to help fellow Veterans, sense of purpose in what I was doing, sense of giving back to the community.

Leadership (with exception of Ms. Weldon and few competent others at the top) is filled with folks who are not even Veterans themselves, yet, they think and know what it feels like to be a Veteran in those top positions - really, the VA needs to promote competent Veterans first.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk the talk and walk the walk - I took a $50K+ paycut to come over and start at the VHA within EMS and once I arrived, I was shocked to see that the Chief of my serviceline was totally incompetent and yet still bullied around and yelled at her fellow workers! She showed a professional side to Exec leadership and showed her "unprofessional" side to her workers. The morale in EMS was unbearable, adn I felt like I was choking. It all starts from the top - treat people as you want to be treated. It was a direct result of her bulliness and incompetence that I just could not stand anymore and I quit and went back to my previous job. I feel sorry for the folks who work in EMS for the STVHS - I see so must promise in those folks, there are a number of folks who I knew that were all gung ho about their work, but the contastant beatdown and disrespect shown by the Chief had put a damper on their initative and wanting to excel. Just imagine if they were treated like humans and made to feel like they were valued part of the team, EMS would be one of the shining stars, instead its just a stain.
