I have been working at SUNY Oswego part-time (Less than a year)
Generally easy work. An average day consist of cleaning windows, taking out and replacing garbage, mopping and sweeping, and cleaning surfaces with disinfectant. Consistent schedule and one of the only places in this small town that can offer that.
The state workers treat the students like slaves as if we are in punishment for all the work they have to do because of us throughout the academic year. Most higher-ups do absolutely nothing. They talk to people in offices and check on the students every 5 seconds.
Advice to Management
Students will continue to quit every summer if this continues. No student wants to spend their whole summer in a miserable place unless they have to. Understand that students take on this job because there aren't many other jobs in Oswego. Treat your students BETTER. We are there to help over the summer. Not slave
