I worked at Salon Media Group as a contractor (less than an year)Pros
People will see your work on Salon. They may assume you have been reasonably compensated for the time you've put in.Cons
For all the articles they run about the outrage of unpaid internships, they pay an awful lot of writers a $100-honorarium per article for work that may require hours of research and reporting. While they tag articles "workers rights," they're screwing their own workers by demanding we work for next to nothing.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Pay your workers with money, rather than with the promise of "visibility."
