I have been working at San Antonio

    Pros

Flexible Time Schedules and Remote Access are a benefit at COSA, as well as all of the different projects the city is constantly undertaking. There are very few places will expose you to so many different projects. There are passionate people who care about the City they live in and making it a better place at ISD.

    Cons

Executive Leadership within IT is non-existent. There is no strategic vision, no focus, no long-term plan, no communication, and worst of all it doesn't seem like they care about the other departments as much as they care about their own "pet projects." They are in a state of transition (flux) and everyone who actually works hard there is overworked. The good employees are tired and the employees who've been here for a long time, like me, have seen the better days go by and don't think it will get better again anytime soon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication, communication, COMMUNICATION! Also, you need to rely on us to do our job! Some of us have been here doing it for 20+ years yet these new leaders act like they don't trust us at all. Move people around when they want to grow! The new CFO/CIO has not been visible to anyone. The CTO is not ever around and doesn't show any vision or leadership capabilities. Everyone who actually wants to work hard is overworked. The rest who just want to coast along do just that and get away with it. Management needs to HELP!
