    Pros

The Select Site Development department is a really fun group to work with. I have read reviews from others that did not have a positive experience which leads me to believe they must have worked on one of the other development platforms. Also, the SelectSite development group did not have turn over on our Product Owner or Product Quality Analyst role in 2014. Again I'm not sure which group some of the negative reviews are coming from, but the SelectSite team is great place to work. We hired more people for new teams and promoted from within to fill those teams. The managers on the SelectSite platform have been very positive and I do experience good leadership from them. The team members on my four person team are knowledgeable and professional. I look forward to coming to work and enjoy my job. The company has allowed me to progress my skills and salary since I first joined in 2006. I started in customer support, then moved to quality assurance, then to product quality analyst and up to senior product quality analyst. SciQuest has recently built more job tiers for each role in the development department. Statements in other reviews saying that careers are flat do not match with my experience.

    Cons

Would like to see the development department invest more in automated unit testing.
Would like to see the department change to a newer product for version control.
Would like to see more time spent teaching the development framework to new hire developers. It is a very custom framework and the resources available to a new hire for learning the framework on their own are severely lacking. We are depending too much on tribal knowledge and the hope that each team has a developer that is good at mentoring to a new hire.

    Advice to Management

Start assigning subject matter experts in development as contacts for the RFX team and make it clear that when the RFX team sends questions, they cannot be ignored and must be taken seriously. Use the RFX process to understand the market demands for features. The subject matter experts need to note when they cannot reply to an RFX with a favorable response and keep a log of those areas. Then regularly meet to consolidate the information. Then provide the research to product marketing for the product roadmap. Perhaps we could improve our sales this way.
