It was a great atmosphere, but the credit card pushing was a little much.

I worked at Sears part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The coworkers at the store I was at were amazing to work with, as was the management. Being able to have a close companionship between the ranks made it feel like everyone was as important as everyone else. The system was relatively easy to learn, and the variety of merchandise kept being a cashier interesting.

    Cons

My biggest complaint was the expectations with pushing credit cards. It felt odd having to push both a rewards card and a credit card, which could turn into multiple applications to try to find the right "fit" for the customer. This, in turn, could hurt the customer's chances for future cards and loans. Your work was judged on how many applications for the credit cards were completed during your shift. If you didn't meet the percentage (either due to people having the card but not using it, or because the customer was adamant about not getting another card), you were looked down upon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe it would be good to try to find a different way to push the credit cards and not punish the employee for not "doing the job" of getting the card applications done.
