I have been working at Seattle Public Schools full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Union helps drive contract negotiations, elementary schools are relatively small, opportunities for advancement in pay with teacher mentor programs, most required trainings are during work week.

    Cons

Cons are dependent upon each school's own administration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was currently working for a Seattle public school and then decided to apply at a different school (internal transfer) that could potentially shorten my commute drastically. The principal at the school for which I was applying visited my current classroom for an informal observation, following my interview. I appreciated their effort in doing this, it showed me that they were truly concerned with my skill level. Additionally, I felt that the interview was stiff and formal. This gave me the opportunity to showcase my teaching credentials.
