    Pros

    Lower level co-workers are generally good people to work with in manufacturing, operations, quality, and materials departments. Many people work here and keep their mouth shut about all of the bad that they witness because they have children, mortgages, families, etc to support and cannot afford to lose their jobs. Unfortunately, even if they open their mouth in protest of what they witness, they are ignored/overlooked in lieu of the protection of those "critically important to the business". Many upper managers are legitimately good people to work for, but are unfortunately unaware of what really goes on in many areas.

    Cons

    Leadership is totally out of touch with lower level employees. They greet everyone daily with their fake smiles and "how are yous??", but in reality they are only focused on getting through their days and meeting their sales and manufacturing goals and profits. So much is covered up in this business, it isn't even funny. I have seen people leave this company under one condition or another, who were absolutely beneficial to operations, but let go because they spoke up about issues in the workplace that needed to be addressed, tried to implement new ideas or technologies, or otherwise "weren't cut out for the business" for various reasons. Most issues arise due to toxic co-workers and the ill effects they have on co-workers who are honest, work hard, and get along well with others. Senior management only cares about you if you work endless overtime and kill yourself for the place, and are unscrupulous in the way they handle their responsibilities. Morale is extremely low. People are grossly overworked, and absolutely underpaid in comparison to other companies. SeraCare is a revolving door with little hope for advancement due to the toxic environment in place.

    Advice to Management

    Interview employees about why the culture is so bad and why morale is so low. You will never retain a workforce that is foundational to your business, but will continue to have a toxic environment operating on skeleton crews, with the occasional addition of new hires or temporary hires that will come and go like busboys in a restaurant. Trust and responsibility is given to those who cannot handle it, but pretend like hell and put up an absolute smoke and mirrors front to show everyone that everything is absolutely outstanding.
