Current Employee - Front Desk Agent in Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Sheraton full-time for more than a year

Meet a lot of different people that are coming in and out of the hotel. Will learn about the hotel business, probably from the ground up, because that's where you'll most likely start out. Decent opportunity for promotions. They also offer a cafeteria specifically for staff, that is pretty cheap.

This review is for the downtown a Atlanta Sheraton

They don't care about you having a life. If they need you to work, they need you to work. The pay is minimal of the amount of work, especially since you'll be on your feet all day. VERY unprofessional work environment, especially among the front office staff. Very cliquey, and lower management is rude to those they feel are "beneath" the,. Lots of cursing among the staff, and they will question you about personal things that really are against the law to ask about. The GM is very nice however, and he does care about his employees. He's just often not privy to what is going on in the hotel, because he can't be everywhere all the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-I know hospitality is one of those jobs that you really can't control hours wise, but you need to understand that your staff shouldn't have to out their life on hold for you.

-Learn what professionalism is. You can be friends OFF THE CLOCK. Treat all your staff with respect, not just the ones you are beasties with.
