I worked at Smith-Midland full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Relaxed working atmosphere, some very nice and very qualified staff.

    Cons

Very industrial office location - ie, filthy. Outdated computers. No advancement opportunity unless you're directly related to the family. Tight with the budget to a fault - costing the company more in time used to search for a better deal than the amount saved. Support staff is expected to take on responsibilities not job related and not compensated for, for instance - marketing, sales support, research. Senior staff positions are given to family regardless of their capability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management need to be on the same page. The mission and direction of the company are viewed differently among the CEO and the COO.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
