No matter what your job title are, you have to do many different tasks at a time. You need to learn how to communicate with different people here. Many projects needs different department to collaborate each other.
Changes happen everyday. Sometimes you may hear some manager leaves the company. And many new colleagues come in and some old leave. So when you collaborate with someone out of your department, you may do work repeatedly because the one you contact with may change next day.
