Former Employee - Personal Banking Representative in Staten Island, NY

I worked at Sovereign Bancorp full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

adequate paid time off, nice sales bonus if you make your goals. I liked the people I worked with until they all got let go by the company. There was room for advancement 5 years ago, but that was before everything changed.

    Cons

Went 4 years with no cost of living pay increase. Too much micromanaging, monitoring phone calls. Cared more about making numbers then helping customers, then the layoffs came. They don't care about your employees. The store managers in my region lasted on average 6 months, as did the business banker representatives. They kept changing titles and tasks every 3 months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micromanaging, make your employees want to come to work. Happy employees will generate your sales if they aren't being worked into the ground.
