I have been working at Spirax Sarco full-time (More than 5 years)
Not slave drivers. Most people leave at 5:00 pm daily. Pay is very good if negotiated prior to taking job.
Lorrain Wiseman President for past two years. Had her own agenda when she was hired by the board. Has created an environment of intimidation and manages that way. Has run-off much of the technical expertise or gotten rid of. Promoted personnel not qualified for the positions. Hired or promoted females based upon her feminist views. Never hired a VP of Sales and Marketing. Sales runs the show. No engineering department, no real technical service, quality, no R&D. Weak marketing VP, not enough personnel in product management, app engineering, or marketing. HR, Accounting, and IT get all the resources they require and hire accordingly. Directors and sales managers tell the President everything she wants to hear and are afraid to say that " the emperor wears no clothes". Unbelievable that the UK allows this to happen. Just don't get on your manager's bad side. Most manager's there have been there almost their whole career. They are completely oblivious to how other companies actually operate or manage their businesses. Mediocre products, three times the price of their competitors, arrogance to really believe that they can grow????
Advice to Management
They are stuck and scared for their jobs. Good luck. Maybe wake up and stop quoting the "core values" when it suits you then ignoring them when it doesn't. Hypocrites...
